Savory onion meatloaf (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the meatloaf mix

01 - 1 large egg
02 - 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
03 - 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
04 - 450 g ground beef (or turkey)
05 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
06 - 1 large onion, sliced thin
07 - 1 tsp dried rosemary
08 - 1 tsp dried thyme
09 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ For the topping

10 - 1 tbsp butter
11 - 1/2 cup shredded Gruyere cheese (or Swiss cheese)

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
02 - Melt the butter over medium heat in a frying pan. Stir in the sliced onions. Keep cooking and stirring until they’re golden and caramelized, around 10 minutes. Set aside to cool for a bit.
03 - In a big bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Toss in the caramelized onions and mix everything together well.
04 - Spoon the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and mold it into a loaf shape.
05 - Pop it into the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the loaf hits an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
06 - When the meatloaf is done, sprinkle the Gruyere cheese on top.
07 - Return the meatloaf to the oven for another 5 minutes, just long enough for the cheese to melt and bubble.
