Grab a big mixing bowl and whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Toss the egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter into the dry mixture. Stir it all up until smooth.

On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 2 minutes. Then roll it out to about half-an-inch thick.

Use a cutter or a glass to make circles. Re-roll the scraps and cut out more until you’re done.

Warm up the vegetable oil in a frying pan or deep fryer to about 350°F (175°C).

Carefully drop the dough rounds into the hot oil. Cook each side for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. Take them out and let them drain on paper towels.

While they’re still warm, roll them in powdered sugar until they’re fully covered.
