Heat up the water and milk in a small pot until it starts bubbling.

Turn the heat way down, then stir in the oats, salt, and cinnamon.

Keep it cooking without a lid for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens. Take it off the heat and let it cool a bit.

Split it evenly between two bowls. Top it off with whatever you like and a drizzle of maple syrup, if you want.
